Orange Blu-ray Review

Orange Blu-ray is, by most part, good. The audio quality was good and video quality was, also alright with some color issues. I love the songs in this movie and they looked very lustrous on high definiton. This Blu-ray is brought to us by Sri Balaji Video.

Audio Quality:
The audio is good, not the best but acceptable. The songs sounded very euphonious. I have no major complaints about the quality of audio. The Blu-ray includes two audio tracks; DTS HD Master 5.1, and Dolby 5.1. Both are good, I liked DTS HD better (well, depends on your speakers).

Picture Quality:
The picture quality is alright and in some scenes, very good (especially Rooba's episodes). I expected a lot, so I am a little dissapointed with the high contrast in some shots (passable though). There are no Aspect Ratio issues in the movie, no blur shots. This is not Sri Balaji Video's best work but you can buy it if you really like the movie (Personally, I loved the movie for its novelty and songs).

Others:

Finally, Sri Balaji Video got rid of its shiny cover! I really like Orange's cover art; it is a simple cover with a noticeable Blu-ray logo (Unlike Magadheera, Maryadha Ramanna, or Darling where the Blu-ray logo was lost in the shiny cover.) I am loving the cover. But I really wish SBV picks some innovative posters for their cover art instead of just the lead actors' pictures. The back consists of the same font, no change. No special features.

Recommendation:
If you like the movie or even like the songs, you can definitely go for it. I cannot promise a masterpiece quality like that of Magadheera's but it will surely be eye-candy. Go for it!

My Request to Gemini TV

Gemini TV is a great and entertaining channel but it has very bad manner dealing with a movie's satellite rights. Gemini TV keeps delaying the release of a movie's home video (DVD/Blu-ray) if it has the rights. They don't let the DVD/Blu-ray of a movie release until they telecast on their channel. Home Video lovers like me hate this. We wait for the release of original DVDs/Blu-rays eagerly and if it does not get released for a long time, we tend to go for pirated stuff. So, in a way, Gemini TV is encouraging piracy. I sincerely request Gemini TV to not delay the release of Home Video for movies.

P.S.: Home Video releases of many movies are delayed by Gemini. Ex. Vedam, Khaleja, Komaram Puli, Raktha Charitra 1 & 2, and many more.

Don Seenu Blu-ray Review

Don Seenu Blu-ray is excellent. Everything was satisfactory and reached my expectations. The audio quality was good and the picture quality was extravagant. This Blu-ray is worth every single penny. The price for this Blu-ray is very good too. This Blu-ray is brought to us by Bhavani DVD.

Audio Quality:
The audio quality is very good, though it doesn't make use of the rear speakers. The audio options include, Uncompressed LPCM 5.1 and Digital Dolby 5.1 were both very good. LPCM uncompressed is actually great. There are no major complaints regarding the audio quality, everything was very good.

Picture Quality:
The picture quailty was excellent even though I felt like Bhavani could have worked more on it. It was very consistent and all of the scenes looked stunning on high definition. There was an orange tint in the scenes of Sri Hari, I don't know if the director intended to make it like that but it looked good too. There are no major complaints on picture quality. There were no Aspect Ratio issues. No blur shots. No nonsense. On a whole, the picture quality is very staggering, and overwhelming. Great to see a great Bhavani Blu-ray! (As i did not like King Blu-ray).

Others:
The front cover was nice and simple and no shiny stuff was present like those of SBV's. Bhavani is really good at the font they use for Blu-ray description, i love it! Hope SBV learns how to package their Blu-rays from Bhavani. The menu is good. I have a complaint though, the advertisements in the beginning of the movie were very annoying as you cannot skip them. There is also a watermark present every now and then but you can't really see it as it is very small. No special features included.

Darling Blu-Ray Review

Darling Blu-ray is a big letdown. I was expecting a great transfer but it really degraded all my expectations. The audio quality was just okay. The picture quality is very inconsistent, sometimes its good sometimes its okay sometimes its horrible with a lot of grain visible. The Blu-ray is brought to us by Sri Balaji Video.

Audio Quality:
The audio quality of this Blu-ray is okay. It is not great but doesn't touch the bad point. It was strictly okay. The songs in this film were great and the audio quality was pretty good during songs. The audio options include, Uncompressed LPCM, and Dolby Digital were pretty okay. The audio is not a letdown, it is passable. It is not a thumbs up but, also, not a thumbs down.

Picture Quality:
The picture quality of this Blu-ray is very inconsistent. Some of the scenes have ridiculously high contrast, it actually hurt my eyes! The contrast is more boosted in outdoor scenes, making it even worse. A lot of scenes had green/blue tint, which I did not encounter in the theaters. Some of the shots had a lot grain visible. I have never seen so much grain in a Sri Balaji Video or Bhavani DVD Blu-ray before. Sri Balaji Video should have taken care of this, it really degrades their brand value. Sri Balaji Video has been very good with all their release but this BD is definitely their first bad Blu-ray. But there are some pros though, some of the scenes were of very good quality, a couple of songs were good too. I wasn't a total disaster but it is, still, the first bad BD of Sri Balaji Video.

Others:
Sri Balaji video comes up with yet another very inadequate Blu-ray packaging. The front cover really shiny, even though SBV thinks it looks good the poster picked for the front cover was a bad choice (Prabhas looks good though). SBV needs to really step it up and change their shiny covers and come with some innovative ones. The back was again filled with bad font, they never want to change it! No special features again.

Recommendation:
If you really like this movie and if you really want to see the songs on high definition, you should rent this BD out otherwise you can give this BD a big thumbs down.

Maryada Ramanna Blu-ray Review

Maryada Ramanna Blu-ray is best Blu-ray in telugu after Magadheera, in audio and video quality. It scores more brownie points on audio though. Every aspect of the Blu-ray is excellent, though grain was visible in the first ten minutes of the movie. Prasad EFX has again proved its stamina in making the best Blu-rays. Marayada Ramanna is brought to us by Sri Balaji Video.

Audio Quality:
The audio quality of this Blu-ray is amazing, it will definetely strike a chord with all of the telugu Blu-ray buyers. The audio will sound extavagant on your surround system. There are no complains on the audio of the BD. Prasad EFX has once proved its strength in giving pristine audio quality. The background music, especially "Ennellaku Pedda Pandaga Vache' will give you goosebumps. The audio quality of the Blu-ray is a big thumbs up.

Picture Quality:
The picture quality of this BD is top notch, atleast most of it. The first ten minutes; a lot of grain is visible but it proves a great BD transfer when I watched the whole movie. Sri Balaji Video/Prasad EFX should have taken care of the first ten minutes. Everything else was great past the first ten minutes. There were no Aspect Ratio issues, which I was very happy about. The picture quality was so good towards that the graphics towards the end, especially the bicycle chase, looked noticeable (as i did not notice it in the theaters). The picture quality, as a whole, is mind blowing.

Others:
The Blu-ray packaging by Sri Balaji Video, again, is very adequate. I like the Shiny front cover but on the back, they still used the same lame font. In my opinion, Sri Balaji Video should really change the font they use for Blu-ray description. The poster used for the front cover is not impressive, Sri Balaji Video must really work on picking an good looking poster for the front cover. There were no special features, so no comments about that.

Recommendation:
Maryada Ramanna is visually stunning and I would definitely recommend everyone to buy this wonderfully transferred Blu-ray. Especially the audio quality is very very very impressive. This won't disappoint you.

Upcoming Telugu Blu-rays

Brindavanam Blu-ray by Bhavani DVD

Orange Blu-ray by Sri Balaji Video

Robo Blu-ray by Sri Balaji Video

I have high expectations on all of these three Blu-rays, hope they reach them!!!

Magadheera Blu-ray Review

Magadheera Blu-ray is a close to perfect Blu-ray, when you discount the Aspect Ratio issues in some of the shots. Watching this magnum opus on high definition, for a telugu movie buff like me, was astonishing. It was an experience, for me, watching this movie on Blu-ray. This Blu-ray is brought to us by Sri Balaji Video.

Audio Quality:
There are two options of audio on this Blu-ray, LPCM 5.1 Uncompressed and Dolby Digital 5.1, both of which are of pristine quality. The audio quality is so good in some of the scenes, especially the title credits, that you almost feel it's live. Prasad EFX effort on audio can be seen easily. The audio quality is on par with Hollywood Blu-ray releases. Buy this Blu-ray; it will definitely give your speakers a good workout.

Picture Quality:
The picture quality of this blu-ray is spectacular, well most of it. The 'Bhairava Kona' is breathtaking on high definition. There are some cons though, there some shots, about eight, which suffer with Aspect Ratio issues. But all these shots were less than two seconds in length. The horse saving scene and the hundred men fight sequence are, especially, great on high definition. The end credits are also fun to watch

Others:
The Blu-ray packaging is adequate. I liked the shiny/sparky front cover but the back was bad. I did not like the font they used for the description of the Blu-ray, it reminded me of some cheap DVD. They should have used better font to make it look like a Blu-ray. There are many posters of Magadheera that were fantastic, but the picture Sri Balaji Video used for the front cover (not the one above, it is a cover on top of the Blu-ray) was very adequate. There were no extra features, which was pretty disappointing but any way I am very happy that the Blu-ray is very extravagant, with eye candy visuals and close to live, audio.

Recommendation:
I would definitely recommend everyone to buy this Blu-ray. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
